NBA and WNBA Players Assist in Civic Engagement Lesson with CIS of Atlanta Site Coordinator
On Election Day Eve, our Site Coordinator at Conley Hills Elementary School, Jonelle, helped with a mini lesson about the election. She conducted a mock election with her students, and in the end, they voted for federal and local representatives and received an “I Voted Sticker!”
Dwight Howard, center for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Te’a Cooper, point guard for the Los Angeles Sparks, were the special guests of the hour. The NBA and WNBA player spoke to the fifth graders about civic engagement and keeping their motivation to achieve more in life.
With the help of our community partner, Blessings in a Backpack, Jonelle distributed bags of food for students since Fulton County Schools are closed tomorrow for Election Day.
These students “voted,” and we hope that you will, too!
