Rest In Peace, Hank Aaron

Today, the world lost a giant.

Henry “Hank” Aaron was a staple in the city of Atlanta. Aside from being a baseball legend, he was also known for his generosity. Beginning in 2001, the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation has given Communities In Schools of Atlanta almost $250,000 throughout the years to help our families; these funds have supported emergency needs for our students and families.

Our team shared stories with each other today explaining the interactions they have had with Mr. Aaron and his family as well as his impact in Atlanta. Our Site Coordinator, Quintin, stated, “If you played baseball as a black kid from the city, Hank was your IDOL.”

We mourn with our Atlanta community and the rest of the world with the passing of a legend. Rest in peace, Hank Aaron.
