MAAC Nominates Renika Robinson as a Shining Star!
Communities In Schools of Atlanta’s partner, Multi-Agency Alliance for Children (MAAC), recently nominated Renika Robinson, Site Coordinator, as an Adult Shining Star. Adult Shining Stars are nominated by MAAC staff for going above and beyond for the young people they work with. The work of Shining Stars is exemplary and makes changes in the system by modeling more than just best practice, but also how to best support youth in foster care.
MAAC, an independent agency that coordinates placements, services and supports for youth in foster care, will recognize a Shining Star Youth and Shining Star Adults at its 6th annual Shining Stars gala that will be hosted at Atlantic Station on May 2, 2019.
Renika, who has a background in both social work and foster care, currently has a caseload of 40 students throughout the APS, Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton school systems. Renika has a very hands-on approach as she provides weekly educational support to her students (consisting of 7th – 12th graders) who are in foster care. Also, Renika is the liaison between foster parents/group homes, MAAC, court appointed advocates and the Department of Family and Children Services.
Renika is attending the Shining Stars gala with her daughter, parents and grandmother.
