"The CIS staff has been working with me to get me back on the right track. They are doing so much for me. The least I can do is come to school now and do what I need to do."

Student Success

At any school, CIS of Atlanta represents only a part of the school’s overall efforts to improve students’ academic achievement. Keeping this in mind, CIS of Atlanta-supported schools reported impressive gains for 06-07.

  • At Washington, Carver and South Atlanta High Schools, where CIS of Atlanta has worked for four or more years, the combined graduation rate increased by 44 percent between 2002 and 2006.
  • At the West End Academy PLC, 39 students who would otherwise have dropped out of school earned their high school diplomas, 8 students completed all course requirements for graduation, 2 returned to their regular high schools, and an additional 27 students remained enrolled.
  • 100 percent of CIS of Atlanta schools made "adequate yearly progress" in attendance.
