CIS Program Coordinator Deon Harrison talks with students.CIS of Atlanta helped Peachcrest Elementary School stock its new Incentive Room with with a variety of goodies such as school supplies, candy, books, toys, games and even bicycles.
Students can purchase items by building up points throughout the week for good grades, perfect attendance, and proper conduct. The points are converted into “dollars” that the students use to buy the prizes they want.
CIS also helped stock similar Incentive Rooms at Stone Mountain Elementary and at Toney Elementary.
Mentoring and Attendance Programs at South Atlanta High Producing Results
Communities In Schools program coordinator Deon Harrison, along with assistant coordinators Rasheed Green and Lakisha Stiggers are implementing a number of programs to help boost student achievement at South Atlanta High School.
Their Never Been Absent (NBA) Program rewards students at the end of each month for perfect attendance. In addition, they are working with nearly 400 students on an ongoing basis, broken down into small groups. Topics for the small groups include life skills, the attributes of having good character, and proper decision-making strategies.
