Wally Amos Introduces New Storybook Characters at Venetian Hills Elementary

Famous AmosWally Amos might be out of the cookie-making business, but he’s still pursuing one of his greatest passions – childhood literacy.

Amos – founder of “Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies” and a Communities In Schools national board member – and his wife Christine have authored a line of children’s books, “The Adventures of Chip and Cookie.”

The Amos’ created the book series and the main characters – “Chip” and “Cookie” – as a tool for teaching children the importance of reading, having good character, and being responsible.

Amos stopped in Atlanta last week to promote the first installment of the book series, “The Adventures of Chip and Cookie: No More Chocolate Chips!” Communities In Schools of Atlanta program coordinator Carrie Woodyard and field supervisor Jill Van Leesten coordinated his visit to Atlanta’s Venetian Hills Elementary School.

Cookie mogul Wally Amos reads “The Adventures of Chip and Cookie: No More Chocolate Chips,” to students in the second grade class of Jasmin Green at Venetian Hills Elementary School. Seated next to Amos are the “Chip” and “Cookie” dolls, which go along with the book. Amos is sending books and dolls to every student in Ms. Green’s class, as well as to the students in Mrs. Linda Howard’s first grade class.
